Mr. Patrick J. Ward

Pennsylvania Market President


Patrick J. Ward joined WSFS Bank in August 2016 as Executive Vice President, Pennsylvania Market President. Mr. Ward also serves on the Board of Directors of WSFS Financial Corporation. Previously he served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Penn Liberty Bank from 2004 to 2016.

He served as Executive Vice President of Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania from January 2003 until January 2004, he oversaw specialized industries, including the Government Banking, Professionals Banking and Not-For-Profit Businesses in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Additionally, he was Chairman and President of Citizens Bank in Delaware and a member of the Citizens Financial Group Executive Policy Committee.

Prior to Citizens Bank, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer for Commonwealth Bank until its acquisition by Citizens Bank in January 2003. Under his leadership, Commonwealth Bank grew to $1.8 billion in assets including 61 branches throughout eastern Pennsylvania.

Preceding his time with Commonwealth Bank, Mr. Ward held a variety of positions at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, including Vice President and Controller of Mellon Bank’s Wholesale Banking Group and Vice President and Controller of its Retail Banking Group.

Mr. Ward is active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Police Athletic League as Vice Chairman, the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry, the Foundation for Catholic Education for Southeast PA, the Brian C. Zwaan Legacy Fund, and the Philadelphia Police Foundation.  He is on the Board of Trustees for Cabrini College and the St. Patrick’s Church Finance Committee.

He is also currently an Operating Advisor for Falcon Capital Partners, a local investment bank providing sell side and strategic advisory services to middle market companies.

Mr. Ward is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and earned an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.  He resides in Chester County.

Mr. Bill Sasso of Stradley Ronon!


William Sasso has served as chairman of Stradley Ronon’s management committee and board of directors since 1994. As chairman, he is responsible for oversight and management of more than 200 attorneys in the firm’s eight offices in Philadelphia, Malvern and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Wilmington, Delaware; Cherry Hill, New Jersey; Washington, D.C.; Chicago, Illinois; and New York.

During his 40-plus years of experience, he has counseled privately and publicly held companies and religious and nonprofit organizations in various matters, including general corporate and securities law, mergers and acquisitions, health care, tax and real estate.

Mr. Sasso was appointed by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf to serve on the board of Independence Blue Cross. He was appointed by former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Infrastructure and Investment Authority (PENNVEST) and as a Commissioner of the Delaware River Port Authority, a role he held until 2015. He was asked in 2010 by then-Governor-elect Corbett to co-chair his Transition Team in preparation for taking office in January 2011.

Mr. Sasso was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award byThe Legal Intelligencer. The award honors “the best the Pennsylvania legal community has to offer,” noting that honorees have “moved forward the legal profession in the state, helped foster the legal education of younger attorneys and stood as examples of some of the best virtues of Pennsylvania attorneys.”

In addition, Mr. Sasso was named as one of the “23 Most Influential Business People in Philadelphia” by Philadelphia Business Journal readers. He was the only practicing attorney included on the prestigious list. He was also honored by thePhiladelphia Business Journal as one the publication’s “2015 Outstanding Directors.” Mr. Sasso was honored by the American Diabetes Association for his commitment to this organization, and he was the recipient of the Chairman’s Award from the USO of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey in honor of his service to the country and his sustained and significant support of the USO mission.

Notably, Mr. Sasso and the firm were selected as the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Americanism Award recipients – which recognized their commitment to the Greater Philadelphia community and to the values of ADL. Mr. Sasso was honored with the American Jewish Committee’s Judge Learned Hand Award, presented each year to a member of the Philadelphia Bar whose achievements exemplify the high principles and noble traditions associated with Judge Learned Hand. Also, Mr. Sasso and the firm were presented with the “Stand and Deliver Award” by Philadelphia Academies for their commitment to providing educational opportunities to inner-city youth.

He was also the recipient of the William Penn Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a business person in Greater Philadelphia. Awarded annually since 1949, recipients are chosen for their outstanding contributions toward the betterment of the region, their professional accomplishments and their commitment to charity, as well as to the community. In 2015, he was chosen by Philadelphia University to serve as the school’s undergraduate commencement speaker (view video here), and the university conferred upon him the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.

Mr. Sasso was recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business for being “known throughout the region for his integrity, tenacity, and pragmatic approach as a business leader and attorney.”
